Panthers interviewed San Diego State RB prospect Rashaad Penny

March 23, 2018

The Carolina Panthers’ search for a younger, more dynamic version of former running back Jonathan Stewart continues.

Carolina already has an interview lined up with Georgia’s Nick Chubb. San Diego State University’s Rashaad Penny may also fit the profile.

According to a report by Tony Pauline at Draft Analyst, the Panthers also spoke with Penny recently.

Penny interviewed with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, and the team is also bringing him in for an official visit. His other official-30 visits include the Tampa Bay Bucs, Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.

Penny is a highly-intriguing prospect for teams around the league that need help at running back. The chances that he’ll still be available in the middle-rounds when Carolina looks to address the position are slim, but it never hurts to imagine what might be.

Let’s take a look at Penny’s college highlight reel.

Penny vs. Stanford

Penny vs. Boise State

Penny vs. Fresno State

Penny vs. New Mexico

There are bigger needs for Marty Hurney to address, but finding another power back to pair with Christian McCaffrey should be relatively-high on the team’s shopping list this offseason.
