Nickell Robey-Coleman: 'There's no place for mediocrity' in LA

The Rams didn’t move to Los Angeles with very high expectations. They hadn’t won more than eight games since 2003, were ushering in a new era with Jared Goff and had an uninspiring coach in Jeff Fisher. Yet, with it being L.A., fans still wanted to see something great from the city’s new team. It took a couple of years, but the Rams reached the Super Bowl last season and made the playoffs the year before. Nickell Robey-Coleman helped land the Rams in Super Bowl LIII – both th

Why Ezekiel Elliott deserves more respect

Much of the offseason talk surrounding the Dallas Cowboys pertains to Dak Prescott’s contract status. But right now, let’s focus in on the running back. All the TV heads like to talk about running backs like Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants, or Los Angeles Rams’ Todd Gurley. For some reason Dallas Cowboys‘ running back Ezekiel Elliott does not get enough attention. Considering how much attention opposing defenses give Elliott, his skill set should be talked about more. E

What's next for former Tennessee football assistant Terry Fair?

Terry Fair leaned in and closely monitored the drill as he shouted instructions to the youth players participating at the Legends of Tennessee football camp at Northview Academy. He implored those drilling at his station to finish their rep hard. Fair was among several former Vols whom camp director Jabari Davis gathered to help instruct a three-day camp that drew nearly 100 participants. Fair enjoyed the chance to catch up with other former Vols and embraced the opportunity

Seahawks need to utilize Rashaad Penny more in 2019

The Seattle Seahawks ground attack was completely resurrected in 2018 after two seasons of a historically inept rushing game. Leading the way was second-year pro, Chris Carson, who became the first 1,000+ yard rusher for the Seahawks since Marshawn Lynch in 2014. While Carson was headlining Seattle’s rushing attack, rookie running back Rashaad Penny spent most of last season fighting for carries in a crowded backfield. As the Seahawks mostly utilized Carson and backup Mike Da

Titans' Adoree' Jackson working to improve mentally for 2019 season

Tennessee Titans cornerback Adoree’ Jackson has all the physical skills, but what about the mental ones? While Tennessee Titans cornerback Adoree’ Jackson isn’t able to do much physically as he rehabs from offseason ankle surgery, he is doing what he can to get stronger mentally. There is no question that Jackson is a physical specimen, capable of shutting down most top receivers on his best day. Consistency, however, is not his specialty and it is something that has plagued
Mannings? Gronkowskis? Meet the dunking, street-racing Pennys, with brother RBs for Giants, Seahawks

Mannings? Gronkowskis? Meet the dunking, street-racing Pennys, with brother RBs for Giants, Seahawks

The intense 2-on-2 basketball games on holidays at the Penny house rarely end on the court in the front yard. Someone inevitably boasts about being the fastest of the four brothers and suddenly the hoop no longer matters. Competition spills over into a street race in front of a neighborhood and family audience of about 40. And poor Robert Penny — trusted to treat his four sons objectively — must switch from calling fouls to judging at the finish line. It’s not always an NFL r

Eagles' forgotten man Pumphrey poised to show he belongs in NFL

Plug-and-play running backs came in all shapes and sizes in the 2017 NFL draft. Donnel Pumphrey can describe them all, for he was part of the class. Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey came off the board in the top 10 picks after running smoldering 40-yard dashes at the combine. The second round featured first-round talents Dalvin Cook and Joe Mixon, who slid due to character questions. It's still hard to believe teams let Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt and James Conner drop

Eric Dickerson had Rams rookies over for dinner

Sean McVay canceled the final two days of mandatory minicamp on Wednesday and Thursday, sending his players home early for summer break. They'll be back on July 27 when the team reports for training camp, but it was a nice reward from the Rams coach. To celebrate the conclusion of spring practices, Eric Dickerson hosted the team's rookies at his house for dinner. He did the same thing last year, getting to know the Rams' first-year players in a more casual setting. Todd Gurle

'Grown-up' Rashaad Penny looks to shine in 2nd year

A change of pace in the Seattle backfield, a burst of game-changing ability for the Seahawks and a shot of rookie excitement. That's what many believed would be showcased by running back Rashaad Penny in 2018 when the Seahawks used a first-round selection on the San Diego State product. However, Penny dealt with some injuries and, though he flashed the brilliance that enticed the Seahawks to take him in the first round, it was a somewhat underwhelming first-year campaign. Add

Jaguars RBs coach Terry Robiskie has a lifetime of experiences to share

As the football was about to be snapped, Terry Robiskie looked above his flip card of plays, standing several feet behind running back Alfred Blue. Robiskie watched as Blue burst through a hole, appearing to execute exactly what was expected of him. But Robiskie, 64, still pulled Blue aside before motioning with his hands that he needed to make his cut quicker after clearing the line of scrimmage. Throughout the Jaguars’ two-hour organized team activity on Tuesday, Robiskie h
