Rams WRs coach mic'd up at OTAs: 'Ball security is job security'

Organized team activities aren’t a time for heated position battles or fighting for starting jobs. That’s not to say players can’t impress coaches and improve their stock heading into minicamp and eventually training camp, but it’s more about conditioning and toying with concepts on the field. Coaches remain intense and fiery during OTAs, as displayed by linebackers coach Joe Barry last week. This week, it was wide receivers coach Eric Yarber who was mic’d up during practice.

5 free agents Patriots could potentially sign before training camp

While the NFL offseason is basically two-thirds of the way over, teams will still be adding players up until training camp in late July. For the Patriots, two positions come to mind where additions are needed — offensive tackle and tight end. With the sudden retirement of Jared Veldheer, the Patriots need an insurance policy behind Isaiah Wynn at left tackle, and then with Ben Watson being suspended the first four games, perhaps another veteran tight end would make some sense

Ex-Giant Orleans Darkwa healthy, ready for NFL return

When the New York Giants decided to part ways with running back Orleans Darkwa following the 2017 season, it came as a bit of a surprise. But Darkwa sitting out the 2018 season was an even greater surprise. As it turns out however, teams weren’t simply overlooking Darkwa — he had suffered a torn Achilles during an October 2018 workout with the Jacksonville Jaguars. “Yep, I knew it,” Darkwa told ESPN in February of the moment he ruptured his Achilles during a workout in early

Nickell Robey-Coleman making most of degree with real estate investments

Nickell Robey-Coleman is an NFL player first, but football isn’t the only thing he’s interested in. After going back to school and earning his degree from USC, Robey-Coleman is exploring other avenues of income and business. His degree is in policy, planning, and development with a focus on real estate development. Even before graduating this month, Robey-Coleman got into the real estate industry with the help of his college advisors and professors. The Rams cornerback owns e

Robiskie nominated for "Dr. Z" Award

Terry Robiskie considers this a significant honor. One reason is the man for whom it is named, and another is the past recipients. Robiskie, the Jaguars’ running backs coach and a 38-year coaching veteran, has been nominated for the Paul “Dr. Z” Zimmerman Award. The Pro Football Writers of America announced the nomination Thursday. “I feel honored,” Robiskie said before the Jaguars’ third practice of 2019 organized team activities Friday morning at the Dream Finders Homes Pra

Running back Rashaad Penny is leaner, stronger this offseason

The Seahawks run game came together last season thanks to a trio of running backs headed by Chris Carson. Together with veteran Mike Davis – now with Chicago – and rookie Rashaad Penny, the three combined to put Seattle in the lead in rushing. Penny, who was selected by Seattle in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft, took a back seat for the first half of the season but came to life Week 11, logging his first NFL touchdown and 100-yard game. With Davis signed to the Bears,

Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott teaches excellence at youth football camp

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has proven to be quite the competitor in the NFL, but the two-time rushing champion had a chance Sunday at the Ford Center at The Star to see the competitiveness of local kids. Elliott hosted the Albertsons and Tom Thumb Ezekiel Elliott Football ProCamp for kids grades first through eighth, both boys and girls, and enjoyed running the camp. "I'd say the thing I enjoy most about being out there is being able to play, being able to co

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on RB Ezekiel Elliott's offseason of positive headlines: 'Zeke has

Cowboys Pro Bowl running back Ezekiel Elliott seems to be enjoying himself this offseason. He's comforted a young Stars fan who was hit by a puck. He's revved up the crowd during Stanley Cup playoff games at American Airlines Center when featured on the jumbotron. He's gone deep sea fishing with teammates and taken part in military style team leadership drills, showing off his level of fitness sans shirt, in North Carolina. He's appeared at Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith's chari
