    Mailbag: Adoree' Jackson

I turned 23 on Tuesday, and I don’t think my birthday could have been any better. Everything worked out perfectly. First off, we got a win on Sunday, and it’s always a good week after a win. But then my birthday fell on our off day, which was nice, and I celebrated by going out to eat with the ol’ lady then hitting the Drake concert here in Nashville with my fellow DBs. Then I went home and went to bed. Practice in the morning, you know? But yeah, it was perfect. I have a fee

Donald Penn remains focused on perfecting his rhythm at right tackle

Derek Carr has been sacked just twice, and hit a mere four times. The Silver and Black – based on sacks allowed – are tied for the second-best offensive line in the NFL, as far as that metric is concerned. There should be some extra praise for the group considering they went against two of the most aggressive and persistent pass rushes in the NFL to start the season. In Week 1 they were tasked with limiting Rams defensive tackles Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh, and during Wee

Ryan Grant's pancake block made statement during Colts win over Redskins

It takes a pancaker to know a pancaker. Sunday, Quenton Nelson, the brutish guard with a highlight video of defender-flattening blocks gleaned from his decorated career at Notre Dame, welcomed Ryan Grant, the Indianapolis Colts’ lithe guard, to his neighborhood. “We were all pretty hyped for Ryan,’’ Nelson said Tuesday. The entire Colts offense saw it. How could they not as coordinator Nick Sirianni held a video session to point out the good (tons) and bad (some) from the 21-

Giants sign Elijhaa Penny | 5 things to know about new FB

The Giants signed fullback Elijhaa Penny off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad on Monday, after a disastrous performance by the offense on Sunday night that saw quarterback Eli Manning sacked six times, and hit eight times, as the offense struggled to pick up the Dallas Cowboys' blitzes. Penny's signing was first reported by Jordan Raanan of ESPN. During one tough series early in the second half, Giants' fullback Shane Smith allowed two pressures by struggling to pick up t

NFL Hall of Famers demand health insurance and share of revenue

A group of Hall of Famers led by Eric Dickerson is demanding health insurance coverage and a share of N.F.L. revenues or else those former players will boycott the induction ceremonies. In a letter sent to Commissioner Roger Goodell; the N.F.L.P.A. executive director, DeMaurice Smith; and the Hall of Fame president, David Baker — and obtained by The Associated Press — 21 Hall of Fame members cited themselves as “integral to the creation of the modern N.F.L., which in 2017 gen

Quietest Colts WR, Ryan Grant, might be their most reliable

It's probably fitting that the player who led the Indianapolis Colts in receptions in Week 1 is the one nobody would have guessed, because he's one of the quietest and most low-key players on the roster. You would probably think that receiver T.Y. Hilton or tight end Jack Doyle, the two favorite career targets of Andrew Luck, would have led the Colts with it being the quarterback's first game back in 20 months. It was receiver Ryan Grant, who is in his first season with the C

How Ezekiel Elliott's evolution as a running back starts with patience

For a split second, Ezekiel Elliott stops behind his offensive line. His eyes dart left then right, scanning what is in front of him by jersey color and daylight before he sprints through a tiny hole for a decent gain. Later in the same training camp practice, Elliott takes a handoff from Dak Prescott wide to his right, pacing himself as his offensive linemen seek out their targets. His eyes don’t come off what is happening in front of him, secure in the knowledge he will not

Colts go back to school on Community Monday

On Sunday, the Colts kicked off their first game of the season at Lucas Oil Stadium. The next morning, they went back to school to kick off their first Community Monday of the year. “Whether we win, lose, play awesome, don’t play great individually, I think it puts everything in perspective every week,” said safety Matthias Farley. “Whatever happens to us on a Sunday, life is going to go on and there are people that need us out there supporting them and showing them that outs

Ezekiel Elliott shrugs shoulders at Giants making him their target

Ezekiel Elliott listened patiently as a reporter told him what Giants safety Landon Collins said earlier Wednesday about the Cowboys offense. “Put the ball into Dak’s hands, and I think we have a better shot at winning,” Collins said of the Cowboys’ quarterback, Dak Prescott. It was not inflammatory, and Collins was not giving away a state secret. Elliott led the league in rushing in 2016 and has provided 33 percent of the team’s yards in his 26 games since the Cowboys drafte

Texans sign WR Malachi Dupre to practice squad

The Texans signed former Bills wide receiver Malachi Dupre to the practice squad, cutting defensive tackle Darius Kilgo. Dupre previously worked out for the Texans. Dupre is a former Green Bay Packers seventh-round pick from LSU. He was signed to the Bills practice squad last September when he was cut by Green Bay. He was promoted to the active roster in December. Texans general manager Brian Gaine worked last year as an executive in the Bills' personnel department #MalachiDu
